New business merging faith with finances
FAIRMONT – After 14 years working in finance with Edward Jones, Dan Hamlet is striking out on his own with 360 Integrated Financial.
Hamlet’s journey in finance started with an undergrad, masters and MBA from the University of Dallas. He worked with Edward Jones in St. Louis from 2000 to 2006, when he decided to join the Army Reserves.
Before finance, Hamlet served in the Marines for four years after high school. He felt the call to serve after 9/11, but his career and family needed his attention to ensure stability. When the Army began a surge of recruiting in 2006, Hamlet felt his time had come.
He then served in command for a few years in St. Louis and became an ROTC instructor at Truman State University in Missouri for four years. Hamlet said the Marines were a transformational experience for him.
“As a young man, learning to live life according to higher purpose was so valuable,” he said. “Learning how to bend all your energy and effort towards achieving a purpose bigger than yourself, that’s the Number one thing I took from the Marines. We all have a purpose. If you know what it is, and how to organize everything in your life to achieve it, you’re a lot more likely to be successful.”
Hamlet first moved to Fairmont when Edward Jones asked if he would consider coming back. To be closer to his wife’s family, Hamlet was given the opportunity to work in Fairmont and spent seven more years with Edward Jones, until 2024. He said Fairmont has been a phenomenal place for his family.
“We’ve got seven children, and Fairmont has been a fantastic place to raise those children,” Hamlet said. “It’s a safe beautiful city with a lot of really good people in it, and it’s very quickly become home to us.”
While studying to be a Certified Kingdom Advisor, learning to mix financial advice with wisdom and advice from faith and religion, Hamlet first considered founding his own practice.
“I started listening to the Holy Spirit and praying daily for guidance,” he said. “It came through loud and clear. As long as I’m listening and making this not about me, but serving the kingdom of God, I have no anxiety.”
The focus for 360 Integrated Financial is three-fold.
First, he wants to work with individuals and families who want to integrate their faith with their finances.
Second, he wants to work with business owners to continue making Fairmont a vibrant community. As a Certified Exit Planning Advisor, he wants to help businesses considering closure sell or transfer so jobs are retained and the business culture sustains as few losses as possible.
Third, he wants to help non-profits become more financially sustainable. Through all three objectives, Hamlet said he wants to continue seeing benefits for the entire community.
“If I can help people see money in a stewardship way, there’s lots of subtle impacts on the community,” he said. “Successful people who live with gratitude and generosity make for a beautiful place to live. I love Fairmont. In my small way, if I can help the people [of] Fairmont grow in their generosity and discipleship, this community will thrive even more.”
