Prayer Convocation this Sunday

SHERBURN — A Lunch-N-Learn sponsored by Crest will be at 11 a.m. today at the First Lutheran Church in Trimont. A lunch will follow. These programs are free to senior citizens in Martin County. Crest appreciates a free-will donation for the lunch.

A Hamburger Night will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the Sherburn Legion Hall. The menu includes a burger, salad, and beans for only $10.

The Sherburn City Council is scheduled to meet at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Public comments and questions will be accepted at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda, contact City Hall prior to the meeting date at (507) 764-4491.

Condolences to the families of June Janssen from Dunnell, and Clair Kelly who passed away recently. They will be missed by family and friends.

The Regional Worship Center will have a Prayer Convocation about the transfer of power in our Country at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19. A spaghetti dinner will follow the 10 a.m. service on Feb. 9 as a fundraiser for the Men’s Group.

The Ruby’s Pantry grocery distribution will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 20 at the Regional Worship Center in Sherburn. The Reg. W. Center is just south of I-90 in Sherburn. There are no income or residential guidelines to collect distributions. The trunk full of groceries is $25. There is a partial list on Facebook before the date. If anyone has leftover boxes from previous distributions, please bring them to the volunteers at the start of the parking lot.

The Martin County West schools are busy counting down to the end of the quarter on Jan. 24, when they will have an early dismissal at 12:15 p.m. The athletes are scheduled in Jan., too.

On Thursday, Jan. 16, the wrestling team will compete at 4:30 p.m. in Blue Earth, and the boys’ basketball team will compete at 7 p.m. in Granada.

On Friday, Jan. 17, the gymnastics team will compete at 6 p.m. in New Ulm, and the girl’s basketball team will compete at 7 p.m. in Alden Conger.

On Saturday, Jan. 18, the boy’s basketball team will compete in Springfield (time to be determined), the wrestling team will compete at 9 a.m. in Wabasso, the gymnastics team will compete at noon in Jackson, and the boy’s hockey team will compete at 7 p.m. in Fairmont.

On Monday, Jan. 20, the boy’s hockey team will compete at 7 p.m. in Windom.

On Tuesday, Jan. 21, the girl’s basketball team will compete at 7 p.m. in Trimont, the boy’s basketball team will compete at 7 p.m. in Sherburn, and the girl’s hockey team will compete at 7 p.m. in Fairmont.

In upcoming events, a Red Cross Blood Drive will be from 1 to 6 p.m. on Feb. 10 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont. Additional Blood Drives are scheduled for Feb. 11 and 12 in Fairmont.
