Steak Fry night this Saturday

SHERBURN — A CREST Lunch-N-Learn program will be at 11 a.m. today, Jan. 8 at the Sherburn Senior Center near the City Hall. The presentation, ‘Dementia Friends’ will be given by Joyce Peterson. A soup and sandwich lunch will follow. This program is free to all senior citizens in Martin County. CREST appreciates a free-will donation for the lunch.

The St. John’s ladies group, LWML will meet at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 8 at the church for their January meeting. All members are encouraged to attend.

The free Christmas tree recycling site will close on Jan. 10. The drop-off sites, the Sherburn Nursery and the Fairmont Street Shop are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Only real trees are permitted. Artificial trees, ornaments, lights, decorations, and similar materials are prohibited. For further information, contact the Solid Waste Coordinator, Andy Geiger at (507) 776-3232.

A Cribbage Tournament will begin with registration at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Welcome Legion Hall. The tournament will begin at 1:30 p.m. The cost of registration is reimbursed as prizes. Cribbage will be played on Jan. 18. All area cribbage players are welcome to join in the fun on the second and third Saturdays of the month until spring.

The Sherburn Legion will have its Steak Fry Night from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11. Selections include rib eye, shrimp, or smoked pork chop. A salad bar, baked potato, and garlic toast will be served with the main course. The Sherburn Legion members will meet at 7 p.m. on Jan. 14.

The wrestling team will compete with Pipestone at 6 p.m. tomorrow, Jan. 9 in Pipestone. The girl’s basketball team will compete with Madelia at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Jan. 9 in Madelia. The girls’ hockey team will compete with Worthington at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Jan. 9 in Worthington. The boy’s hockey team will compete with Worthington at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Jan. 9 at the Fairmont Hockey Arena. The boys’ basketball team will compete with Cleveland at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10 at Martin County West. The girls’ basketball team will compete with Minnesota Valley Lutheran at noon on Saturday, Jan. 11 at Minnesota Valley Lutheran School. The wrestling team will compete with Jackson at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11 in Jackson.

The boys’ basketball team will compete with Loyola at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13 at Loyola Catholic School. The wrestling team will compete at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at Martin County West. The gymnastics team will compete with Blue Earth at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14 in Blue Earth. The girls’ basketball team will compete with Trimont at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14 in Trimont.
