Sherburn City Council makes designations
SHERBURN — The Sherburn City Council met on Monday evening and acting Mayor, Brad Ringnell, installed the new council members with an oath of office. Ron Beckius and Rick Behne are councilmen and Tucker Schumann is Mayor. They are joined by Councilmen Brad Ringnell and Sarah Kramer, Clerk Andrea Ballard, and Deputy Clerk Sean Devenn.
The meeting was full of annual appointments and designations.
Fee schedules were discussed and the Clerk asked that a $25 fee be used when a title search is requested since there have been quite a few lately and it takes time for the city hall staff to comply. The fee schedule was approved. The authorized signature of Mayor Schumann was approved for banking. The designations of legal services, banking, insurance, paper for minutes, auditor, realtor, and engineers were approved. {Legal: Birkholtz, Paper: Martin County Star, Insurance: Ringnell, Realtor: Ringnell, Bank: Bank Midwest, Auditor: Burkhardt, and Bolton and Menk Engineers}. The Council approved renewing the two CDs for one year. ($2,800+ at seven percent and $55,000 at four percent).
The council approved the final payment to the construction company for the Waste Water Treatment Plant from the fund ready to pay for it. There may be some insignificant bills for paperwork yet to come but according to the Bolton and Menk Engineer, Derek Behrens, it should not be a large sum.
The clerk’s report mentioned the water reports showing the water to be cleared and budget reports. She has sent in the truth and taxation and the audit report needed in December. The city workers and the deputy clerk, Sean Devenn, have been working on the utility accounts and water meters.
In other business:
— The council approved a $3,500 donation from Taylor Family Farms to the Fire Department for radios. The Fire Department had applied for this grant earlier.
— The council approved the sale of pumper truck #12 to an individual for $4,800.
— There was no police report in person since Chief Yochim was in training.
The Council went into a closed session. The next meeting of the Sherburn City Council is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at Sherburn City Hall.
