Recycling day is today

TRUMAN — As we welcome 2025 let us put forth our best to be thoughtful, kind, and friendly and show that we really care about our nation.

Today, Thursday is recycling day due to New Year’s Day.

It’s back to school on Monday for all Truman Public School students.

The city council meets at 5:30 p.m., Monday. Citizens are welcome to the swearing-in ceremony of our city officials.

If you served in the US military or National Guard, you are eligible for a free first-year membership with American Legion Lee C. Prentice Post 36-Fairmont. (All active-duty military personnel are eligible for a free membership). Call (507) 235-9862 or text (507) 236-5743 for details.

Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota in partnership with Heartland Senior Living in Truman are coordinating the local Meals on Wheels program. Call (507) 776-2031 and ask for Holly to receive additional information or sign up for the program. Meals help older adults maintain good health and remain living at home. LSS Meals on Wheels, a part of the national Meals on Wheels network, provides hot, nutritious meals paired with a friendly visit and safety check for Minnesotans ages 60 and older.

An American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held from noon to 6 p.m. on Jan. 7 at the Winnebago Community Center. By appointment only. Schedule online or call 1-800-RED-CROSS.
