‘Mufasa’ showing this weekend at Sherburn Theatre

SHERBURN — The Sherburn site for Christmas Tree recycling is Sherburn Nursery, and the Fairmont drop site is the City Street Shop on Margaret Street. Trees may be Recycled at these sites from Dec. 26 to Jan. 10. Do not recycle artificial trees, wreaths or roping, ornaments, lights, or garbage. Questions may be directed to the Solid Waste Coordinator, Andy Geiger, at (507) 776-3232.

Street parking ordinances are being implemented now by the City of Sherburn. Do not park on a street or alley between 2 and 6 a.m. from November to April. Do not blow or shovel snow onto city streets and do not hinder snowplowing with items. Emergency snow removal prohibits parking until the street is clear of snow curb to curb (watch for snow in the middle ready to be removed). This usually happens when there are two inches of snow or more. Public Works and City Hall declare the emergency.

The Dec. 29 Sunday services in area churches are: St. John’s Lutheran Church has One service at 8 a.m. No Sunday School or SALT. Their partner church in Wilbert will have a 9:30 a.m. service. In January, it will have services at 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays which will continue until the end of March. The Circle of Faith parishes are having a joint service at St. Peter. Lutheran Church in Ceylon will be at 9 a.m. followed by a brunch. The Regional Worship Center has services at 9 a.m. They will change their midweek Bible Classes and meals to Tuesday, Dec. 31, and have bingo and pizza after the classes that night instead for a New Year’s Eve family event. The Church will supply the crust and sauce for the pizza and the members should bring their toppings. They will also have prayer convocations at 5 p.m. on Jan. 5 and 19 to pray for the transfer of power to the new president and the nation.

Condolences to the families of Darlene Whisney and Larry Norem who passed away recently. They will be missed by family and friends.

The Sherburn Theatre will feature the movie Mufasa this weekend. Showtimes are 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The Lions Club from Sherburn will serve a Steak Fry Night on Dec. 31 at the Sherburn Legion Hall.

The Martin County West Schools will resume classes on Jan. 2.
