Pancake feast this Sunday

CEYLON — A Cribbage Tournament will begin at 1:30 p.m. today, at the Welcome Legion Hall. It has tournaments on the second and third Saturdays of the month, in Welcome until spring. All area cribbage players are welcome to join the fun.

The Lake Belt Bar will have a horse racing and meat raffle tonight.

There will be a Pancake Brunch fundraiser for the Ceylon Fire Department Relief Association from 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday, Dec. 15 at the banquet room of the Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon. The cost is a free-will donation. The menu includes pancakes, french toast, sausage, ham, scrambled eggs, juice, milk, and coffee. Proceeds will help the Ceylon Fire Department purchase needed firefighting equipment. Be generous.

This weekend the Sherburn Theatre will have a free showing of the movie, “The Grinch” at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. This movie is sponsored by the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont. The regular film at the theatre is Moana 2 which shows at 7 p.m. on Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The Tuesday Bible Class at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Ceylon will be at 10 a.m. instead of the usual 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 17. They plan to have a service on Dec. 21 at 5:30 p.m. Area residents are welcome to join them at these events.

There will be a Red Cross Blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 18 at the Mayo Clinic and Health Center, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 20 at the American Legion in Downtown Plaza, both locations in Fairmont. Give the gift of life this Christmas with a blood donation. Each unit may save up to three lives. There will be a Lunch and Learn sponsored by CREST beginning at 11 a.m. on Dec. 18 at the First Lutheran Church in Trimont, with a program about Christmas, followed by a lunch. These free programs for senior citizens in Martin County are sponsored by CREST. They appreciate a free-will donation for the lunch.

Santa Day will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 21 at the old city hall building across from the post office. Visit Santa, and have a picture taken with him. There will be treat bags, cookies, and juice for the children. The Helping Hands of Ceylon and others are sponsoring this event for the public. There is a Toy Drive to collect toys for children in Ceylon who may not have any at Christmas. Parents can fill out the form and return it by Dec. 20. They will be able to pick a toy for their child(ren) from 10 a.m. to noon on Dec. 21. Thank you to those who donated toys, and the Helping Hands of Ceylon members who organized the toy drive for the Ceylon children.

The City of Ceylon will sponsor a Holiday Lighting Contest again this year. Thank you to those citizens who decorated their houses for our enjoyment. Watch for further information.
