WELCOME — There will be a Red Cross Blood Drive today at Live Fit Gym in Fairmont and on Dec. 20 there will be a blood drive at the American Legion in Fairmont. Blood is urgently needed now so give it if you are able.

The Welcome Legion will have a Santa Day from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14. The event includes hot dogs, fun crafts, coloring contests, free photos with Santa, and rides on a fire truck or police squad car.

The Sherburn Theatre will have a free showing of, “The Grinch” at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, and at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15. This is sponsored by the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont. Plan to attend. The Sherburn Theatre will feature “Moana 2” at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The Cribbage Tournament will be held at 1:30 p.m. (registration at 1:15 p.m.) on Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Welcome Legion Hall. The next cribbage event will be on Saturday, Dec. 21.

The Burn Site in Welcome will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 14. Wood only approximately 6 inches in diameter may be brought. Garbage or metal is not permitted.

The Ceylon Fire Department Relief Association will host a fundraising pancake brunch in Ceylon from 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday, Dec. 15 at the Lake Belt Bar and Grill banquet room. Cost is a free-will donation to help purchase fire equipment. The menu includes pancakes, french toast, sausage, ham, scrambled eggs, juice, and coffee.

Remember if you are mailing packages for Christmas Day delivery, make sure to mail them before Wednesday, Dec. 18.

The Welcome City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Welcome Legion Hall with a public meeting to begin the evening. The public meeting is to inform residents about the street improvement project for 2025.
