Truman holiday occasions underway

TRUMAN — A Lefse demonstration by Megan Heller will be at 6 pm today in the backroom of the Truman Public Library. Come learn how to make this Norwegian treat.

Please join Toys for Truman in helping needy children as we run our program for 2024. Make a difference this Christmas by donating a toy for a child in need. Boekett Building Supply and Elizabeth Chevrolet are collecting toys for underprivileged children in the community. You can help by bringing an unwrapped, new gift to Boekett Building Supply or Elizabeth’s Chevrolet any time during regular business hours. Please drop off your gift or monetary donation by noon on Friday, Dec. 13. Don’t forget older kids need gifts also.

A Cookie Walk event will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14 at St. James Lutheran Church in Northrop. Purchase by the pound or buy pre-boxed containers available or bring your own. Gluten-free options are available.

Santa is coming to the Lewisville Legion from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14. Visit with Santa and have your picture taken. Children ages zero to 12 years of age can register for gifts sponsored by the Lewisville Commercial Club. Santa will draw gifts at 12:30 p.m. A soup and sandwich lunch, sponsored by the Lewisville Legion Auxiliary, will also be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Come to the Lewisville Legion at 8 p.m., on Saturday, Dec. 14 for the karaoke and ugly sweater contest. Join in the fun!

The Lewisville Legion Auxiliary will serve a soup and salad lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14. Come enjoy some devious soup and see Santa too.

A concert by Jennie Williamson will be held at 4 p.m. on Dec. 15 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Truman City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2. All meetings are open to the public.

The Truman School Board meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2, in the board conference room.

Wednesday is recycling day. Recycling containers should be curbside by 7 am. Be sure all items are clean, and the cardboard is broken down.

Second Harvest Heartland, a nutrition assistance program for seniors, will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18. Come to Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman to pick up your box. Eligibility is based on age, 60 years and up, household size, and income. Pre-register at 1(800) 365-0270.

Lewisville Commercial Club will meet at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at the legion.

The Trinity Lutheran Church GIFT Christmas Program will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 18. A meal will be served after the program. The public is invited to attend.

The Santa Parade of Lights by the Truman Fire Department begins at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21. If you would like to participate or have a group that would like to join in on the fun, contact Brandon at (507) 236-4064.

It’s time to send out Christmas cards to family, friends, and those serving our country. Opening one’s mailbox and finding a thoughtful, personal piece of correspondence is more exciting than ever. Don’t stop spreading that Christmas cheer.
