CEYLON — Our Savior’s Lutheran Church will hold Communion Services at 5:30 p.m. tonight. They also have a Bible Class scheduled at 9:30 a.m. every Tuesday. Area residents are welcome to attend these events.

Area Churches have services scheduled for Sunday. Wilbert will have 9:30 a.m. services, and their partner congregation, St. John’s, in Sherburn, has 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services. The Circle of Faith Parishes has Services at 9 a.m. at Waverly Lutheran north of Welcome, 10:30 a.m. services at Trinity Lutheran in Welcome, and 10:30 a.m. services at St. Peter Lutheran in Ceylon. Area residents are welcome to join these congregations for worship.

Today the Civic and Commerce Club of Sherburn will have their annual Deck the Halls event at the High School in Sherburn. The voting for the Decorated Christmas Trees will be from 4 to 8 p.m. along with a vendor fair and supper of ham and potatoes served by the St. John’s Youth Group from 5 to 7 p.m. Voting on trees continues and the vendor fair also with a pancake brunch served by the Lions Club of Sherburn from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m on Sunday, Dec. 8. There is also a vendor fair on Saturday at the armory in Fairmont.

The Lake Belt Bar and Grill in Ceylon will have puzzle races at 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. tonight. Next Saturday, they have scheduled a trivia night.

A Ceylon City Council meeting has been scheduled for 6 p.m. on Dec. 10 at City Hall. Public comments and questions can be shared at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda, contact City Hall at (507) 632-4653.

A Christmas Social for the LWML ladies’ group will be at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 12 at Wilbert’s St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, featuring a salad lunch, program, and bake and craft sale table. Their partner church will have their Guest Day at 2 p.m. on Dec. 11 at St. John’s in Sherburn.

The Helping Hands of Ceylon group will sponsor a Santa Day for area children from 2 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 21 at the old city hall building across from the Post Office. They also have their third annual Toy Drive for Ceylon children. Parents should fill out the form available at City Hall and the Post Office and return it by Dec. 20. They can pick out toys for their child(ren) from 10 a.m. to noon on Dec. 21. Anyone willing to contribute to the toy drive may drop off new toys at the boxes in Fairmont, or give cash or toys to Barb Kronback or Chris Griffin before Dec. 20. The Red Cross blood drive will be on Dec. 13 at the Live Fit Gym and on Dec. 20 at the American Legion, both in Fairmont. Blood is urgently needed now so give it if you are able.
