Open house at nursery this Saturday

SHERBURN — Tonight St. John’s Lutheran Church will have a Thanksgiving Eve service at 6 p.m. with communion. Their partner church St. Paul in Wilbert will have 7:30 p.m. communion Service tonight. St. Luke’s Catholic Church members may attend a Thanksgiving Service in Jackson at 9 a.m. on Nov. 28th. The Circle of Faith Parishes or the Regional Worship Center have not scheduled Thanksgiving services.

The Sherburn Theatre will show the movie ‘Moana 2’ this weekend and next weekend. The movie will premiere at 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 4 p.m. on Sundays.

The Sherburn Nursery will have an open house from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 30 to celebrate Small Business Saturday and thank their customers. Attendants can meet the new owners, have a snack and beverage, and shop for home decor, clothing and gift items. Sign up for the Porch Pot classes and enter to win a gift basket valued at over $200.

To ensure your packages mailed for Christmas get to the address by Christmas the Post office suggests mailing early by Dec. 18 if using the regular ground mail, mail by Dec. 19 if using priority mail, and mail by Dec. 21 if using the Priority Express mail.

The Mayo Mobile Clinic will be in Sherburn from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 2 and on Dec. 4. The van is usually by the City Hall. Call the appointment number and mention Sherburn Clinic (507) 238-8500.

First Lutheran Church in Trimont will have its annual Carol Sing at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 1. Plan to attend.

Dec. 1 is the deadline to donate to the Shop with a Cop program with the Welcome and Sherburn Police Department. Call (507) 764-4221 to arrange for an officer or volunteer firefighter to pick up your donation. Checks should be written to the Welcome Fire Relief Association. Thank you for helping families in the area to have a good Christmas.

There will be a Caregiver’s Support Group meeting at 10 a.m. on Dec. 2 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont sponsored by Crest. Any caregiver is welcome to join the group.

There will be a Red Cross Blood drive on Dec. 2 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont and the St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. There will be a blood drive on Dec. 13 at Live Fit Gym and on Dec. 20 both in Fairmont. Call (800) RED-CROSS (800-733-2767), go online at www.redcrossblood.org, or text ‘BLOODAPP’ to 90999 to make an appointment, and check on locations, and times of blood drives near you. Blood is urgently needed now so give it if you are able.

The Sherburn City Council will meet at 5 p.m. on Dec. 2 at City Hall. There is always a time for public comments and questions at the beginning of every meeting but to be on the regular agenda please contact City Hall before the meeting date at (507) 764-4491.

There will be a Lunch and Learn program at 11 a.m. on Dec. 2 at the Sherburn Senior Center by the City Hall. A lunch will follow. These programs are free to seniors in Martin County. Crest sponsors the programs and appreciates free-will donations for the lunch.

The Hamburger Night will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 4 at the Sherburn Legion Hall.

The Martin County West Schools will have their Fall Break from today until Nov. 29. The Girls’ Basketball team will play at 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 30 in Worthington. The Boys’ Basketball team will play a 7:15 p.m. game on Dec. 2 at USC. Girls’ Basketball will play at 7 p.m. on Dec. 3 in Trimont. Boys’ Basketball will play at 7 p.m. on Dec. 3 in Sherburn. Girls’ Hockey will play at 7 p.m. on Dec. 3 at the Martin County Hockey Arena.

Upcoming events include the annual Deck the Halls Tree Decorating Contest and Vendor Fair sponsored by the Civic and Commerce Club in Sherburn on Dec. 7 and 8 at the Martin County West High School in Sherburn. Dec. 3 is the deadline date to sign up for the tree contest at Bank Midwest in Sherburn or Sherburn Nursery and Floral. St. John’s LWML ladies group will have their annual Guest Day at 2 p.m. on Dec. 11. Their partner church in Wilbert will have their guest day at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 12. Area residents are invited to Trimont for the Sounds of the Season from 2 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 15 at Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center.
