Several area blood drives planned
WELCOME — The burn site in Welcome will be open from 8 a.m. to noon tomorrow, Nov. 23. Remember only wood six inches or less should be brought, no garbage or metal.
The Glows parade in Fairmont is at 6 p.m tonight. Santa is the last float of about 30 lighted floats.
The MCW School play “Anastasia” will be held at the Sherburn Theatre tonight, Saturday night, and Sunday matinee.
The Red Cross Blood Drive will be on Nov. 26 and 27 at the Best Western Hotel in Fairmont and on Dec. 2. at St. Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. The Sinn Family Celebration of Life will also have a Dec. 2 Blood Drive in Trimont. Call 800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767), go online, or text ‘blood app’ to 90999 to make an appointment and find information about blood drives in the area. Blood is drastically needed so give it if you are able. Each unit is capable of saving three lives.

The Welcome Post Office is open from 8 a.m. to noon during the week and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Saturdays. USPS would like to remind those mailing Christmas packages that the last day to ensure Christmas delivery is Dec. 18 using ground delivery, Dec. 19 using the priority mail, and Dec. 21 using the priority express service. Mail early.
The Welcome and Sherburn Police Department is again sponsoring a Shop with a Cop program for children to shop for family members or other low-income children for Christmas. The Welcome and Trimont Fire Departments are helping as volunteers to help the children shop. Donations determine how many children can shop. Individuals and Businesses can donate by making a check to Welcome Fire Relief Association to ensure the donation will be processed correctly. Please be generous and make your donation by Dec. 1. Thank you to the police and fire departments and donors for helping families in the community to have a great Christmas.
Upcoming Events include the ‘Deck the Halls’ tree decorating contest and the Vendor Fair at the MCW High School on Dec. 7 and 8. Those decorating a tree for the contest should contact Sherburn Nursery or Bank Midwest in Sherburn by Dec. 3.
The Trimont Fire Department will have a Ham Bingo at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 at Sinn Family Celebration of Life. The Sinn facility will also have a Sounds of the Season event from 2 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 15.
There will be a Santa Day from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 14. at the Welcome Legion Hall.
