SHERBURN — There will be a CREST-sponsored Lunch & Learn program from 11 a.m. to 1p.m. today, July 17, at First Lutheran Church in Trimont. After the program, a light lunch will be served. These programs are free to anyone in Martin County. They appreciate any free will donation given for the lunch.

Tonight, July 17, is the date for ‘Hamburger Night’ from 6-8 p.m. at the Sherburn Legion Hall. For only $10 a burger, beans and salad will be served. Sounds yummy.

The Regional Worship Center has a meal at 5:30 p.m. tonight, July 17, then bible classes for all ages at 6:30 p.m. Their Sunday services are scheduled for 10 a.m. St. Luke’s Catholic Church also has Wednesday Mass at 8:30 a.m. and Eucharist at 9 a.m. Their weekly services from July through September with Father Pasala are at 5 p.m. on Saturday with reconciliation at 4:30 p.m. St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn has 8:30 a.m. Sunday services in the summer. Their partner church, St. Paul’s in Wilbert has 10 a.m. services. St. John’s also has services at 10 a.m. on Mondays at Temperance Lake Ridge.

The Sherburn Library will have storytime for children at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, and Boredom Busters for children at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23. These events run through July.

The Sherburn Theatre will feature the blockbuster film ‘Twisters’ this weekend, July 19-21. Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday. Please park on the side street and walk to the front entrance of the theatre until the Hwy. 4 construction is done. Thank you for your cooperation and loyalty.

The Trimont Farmers Market will return to Anderson Park from 2:30-5:30 p.m. on Friday, July 19. Trimont also features Sundaes in the Park at 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 21. Entertainment this Sunday will be Glenn Henriksen. Rain site is the Sinn Family Celebration of Life facility. (OOPS, I used that four-letter word, rain)

The CREST Memory Cafe will be meeting 3 p.m. Monday, July 22, at the Temperance Lake Ridge facility in Sherburn. This is a free support group for family and caregivers of Alzheimer patients.

An American Red Cross blood drive will be held 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, July 22, at St. Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. Tuesday coffee hours in July continue from 8:30-10 a.m. July 23, at the Regional Worship Center just south of I-90 in Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for great fellowship with good coffee.

The Welcome Summer Festival is scheduled this Friday and Saturday, July 19-20, with city-wide rummage sales and many activities for young and old alike. Friday, the Welcome Fire Relief Association will have a chicken supper from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Welcome Legion Hall. The parade is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Sounds like fun in Welcome.

(507) 764-2336. They have scheduled a Kinder Camp to transition children entering kindergarten, at no cost, from 8-11 a.m. Aug. 19-21. Registration for students is online only or in person for the new school year. FFA has summer activities all summer including twins game, experience visits, ‘From the Ground Up’ event on July 25, Fair exhibits and trap shoots to name a few. There will be a Children’s Theatre Camp from July 21-27. There are teacher’s workshops scheduled from Aug. 26-28 and the first day of school for grades 7-12 is September 3 and all students on September 5. There is an opportunity to file for school board election in November. To file a person must be 21 years old, an eligible voter, resident of the school district for 30 + days, and have no other

affidavits for an office for the election. Deadline date to file is 5 p.m. Aug. 13, at the school district office located at 105 E. 5th Street in Sherburn. Check out the newsletter for further information.
