Summer church schedules start
SHERBURN — This is the last week of May. Saturday begins the month of June, so most of the news is about events in June. The Sherburn Theatre will feature the film ‘Garfield, the Movie’ this weekend May 31 to June 2. Showtimes are 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 4 p.m. on Sundays. Thank you for your patronage of local businesses through the construction inconveniences in Sherburn.

St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn will have their summer schedule through Labor Day so they will have one Sunday morning service at 8:30 a.m. with fellowship and coffee to follow at 9:30 a.m. Their partner congregation, St. Paul’s Lutheran in rural Ceylon (Wilbert) will have 10 a.m. Sunday services this summer. This Sunday, June 2, at St. John’s they will have a special service honoring high school graduates from their congregation. On Monday, June 3, the Friendship Club from St. John’s invites area residents to join them for breakfast at 9 a.m. on the patio at Green Mill in Fairmont. You need not be a St. John’s member to attend. St. John’s is also planning Vacation Bible School for 3 year-olds to kindergarten from 9-11 a.m. June 10-14. They are also planning a Camp Omega Day Camp for lst graders through 6th graders on July 8-12.

Congratulations to Bob and Greta Lintelman who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 25 with friends and relatives. They are the owners of the Cup and Saucer in Sherburn. Our wish is for many more years together.

Tuesday coffee hours in June will begin 8:30-10 a.m. June 4 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in
Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for coffee, goodies and great fellowship every Tuesday in June.

Mayo Mobile Clinic will be in Sherburn from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, June 3 and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 5 near the city hall building. Call the appointment line and mention Sherburn at (507) 238-8500.

CREST Caregiver Support Group will meet 10 a.m. Monday, June 3, at Trinitiy Lutheran Church in Trimont. Any caregiver or family member of patients is welcome. Get support from others going through the same experiences.

The Sherburn Library will sponsor some storytimes at 3:30 p.m. on Thursdays and some Boredom Busters fun activities at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays in June and July. Check out the services offered to Sherburn area children and others at the Sherburn Library.

The Regional Worship Center, just south of I-90, will have a meal each Wednesday, then Bible
classes for all ages including nursery, toddler, Kids with a Purpose, youth, adult, and Celebrate
Recovery groups. Sounds like a wonderful Wednesday program.

Sherburn Lions will have a golf tournament on June 7 at the Fox Lake Golf Course to raise funds for diabetes research.

Other upcoming events include:
• A Lunch & Learn program will be held 11 a.m. on June 5 at the Sherburn Senior Center.
• ‘Hamburger Night’ will be 6-8 p.m. on June 5, at the Sherburn Legion.
• City-wide garage sales in Sherburn will be June 6-8. Listing a sale costs $10 and can be paid at Bank Midwest in Sherburn by June 3. The list given at that time will be distributed at Casey’s, Kum & Go and Bank Midwest.
• Bike Rodeo sponsored by the Welcome/Sherburn Police Department and Trimont Police
Department will take place on June 9. All ages may participate. Parents must sign a waiver and be present. The Rodeos will be held 9 a.m. at MCW High School in Sherburn, 12 p.m. (noon) at
Welcome Fire Hall and 3 p.m. at the elementary School in Trimont. Bike, helmet and closed toe
shoes are needed.
• Sherburn Holiday Festival will be June 14 and 15. Music, plenty of food and activities, parade and more.

There will also be a special fundraising event on June 22 at the Martin County Arena in Fairmont to benefit the Healing Hearts Housing part of the Healing Hearts Recovery Program for those wanting sobriety and lifelong change. There is a Healing Hearts House in Sherburn. Heart Song musical group will perform and there are plans for a hog roast, activities for children, and a silent auction.
