Board meeting follows informational meeting
SHERBURN — Martin County West School Board had a meeting on Monday evening after the informational community meeting concerning the referendum at which there were about 40 people.
In other business during Monday’s meeting:
— The board accepted donations from Life Vac of three airway clearance devices, $500 from Farm Bureau in Martin County to the FFA and $500 from the employees of First Farmers and Merchants Bank in Fairmont for the preschool and meal balances.
— There was a performance evaluation report of Superintendent Cory Reynolds with a positive review.
— The finances reported that 18 percent of the budget has been used with $11,407.582 used so far. Enrollment is 630 pupils.
— The first reading of the updates on policies for substitute teachers and long-term substitutes was read.
— The resolution for support of Southern Plains Education Cooperative was approved with an additional $40,000 from MCW. The special meeting to canvass the results of the Nov. 7 election was set for Nov. 10, 2023. Approvement for appointing special election judges was given for the Nov. 7 election.
The following employee changes were approved:
— Retirement of custodian Gerald Laue effective Dec. 30; Resignation of ESP Stephanie Moore in Trimont and hiring ESP Dianne Herdegen in Trimont; Reassignment of custodian Jeremiah Anthonisen to day custodian at Sherburn Elementary School; Shane Kuehl as JH boys
basketball coach; Annie Post as head gymnastics coach; Jenna
Steele and JT Thedens as assistant gymnastics coaches; and Logan Pankonin as Knowledge Bowl coach.
Reports from principals and CER director and committees rounded out the meeting.
