Mini golf at Fairmont library

Join the Martin County Library in Fairmont from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8 for mini golf. Try at a variety of golf holes throughout the library building, for all ages. Venmo Safety with Nickie Welsh

Social Club Simple adult enrichment instructor Nickie Welsh will teach a class about Venmo safety from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13 in a Zoom meeting. In this class, participants will discover how to securely pay friends and businesses, as well as receive money without the need for cash or checks. Participants will gain a confident understanding of setting up Venmo safely, avoiding unnecessary fees, and applying it in real-world scenarios for themselves and their families. Child’s YouTube Safety with Nickie Welsh

Social Club Simple adult enrichment instructor Nickie Welsh will teach a class regarding YouTube use for adults with children from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11 in a Zoom meeting. The class covers everything from setting up a YouTube channel and configuring safety settings to considerations specific to kids, teens, and young adults. Children must be aged 13 and have parental permission to start a YouTube channel. Students will gain clarity on what is involved in creating a YouTube channel for their child. Mechanics of Elite Pitchers with Rick Pauly

Coach Rick Pauly will demonstrate the proper pitching mechanics for beginner and intermediate pitchers from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Fairmont High School gymnasium. He will teach drills to perfect pitching mechanics to increase speed, improve location accuracy, and demonstrate how to throw a basic drop-ball and change-up. Each pitcher must provide a fully-geared catcher or parent, and clean gym shoes. Participants must arrive 30 minutes early for registration and warm-ups. Advanced Movement Pitching with Rick Pauly

Coach Rick Pauly will focus on safe techniques for throwing elite-level movement pitches from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Fairmont High School gymnasium. Participants will learn drills for developing the spin axis and spin rates that create elite movement, and the four key fundamentals of basic pitching mechanics that enable players to perform elite-level pitches. Coach Pauly will teach the drills to perfect pitching mechanics that will increase speed, improve location accuracy, and demonstrate how to throw a basic drop-ball and change-up.
