STEM-magnets and electronics for kids
Children in Grades 4 to 6 can come and explore the nature of magnets and electronics from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 13 and 14 in the Fairmont Elementary School media center. Using building block kits, students will use a hands-on approach to conducting experiments using science, logic, and engineering to gain a better understanding of how things work. Parents are encouraged to provide their children with a snack and water for class. Registration is required, costs $25, closes on Jan. 6, and can be completed on the CER webstore.
Master Gardener class and workshop
Join the Martin County Library in Fairmont for a Winter Sowing class at 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 6 at the building. The workshop will follow at 6 p.m. Master Gardeners will assist in preparing seeds to sow over the winter. Participants must bring plastic containers for sowing, any seeds they wish to use, a bin to transport their containers, and gloves or trowel. Master Gardeners will provide additional seeds to choose from, soil, and extra planting containers.
