American Legion open on Merry and Bright
The American Legion Auxiliary of Fairmont will serve hot sandwiches, chips, hot chocolate, hot cider, coffee, water, and snacks at 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6 at 300 Downtown Plaza in Fairmont, before the Merry and Bright evening event. The American Legion will give away a basket in the drawing raffle. Register on-site.
Lunch with the Arts at Red Rock
Join the Red Rock Center for the Arts for the monthly Lunch with the Arts program at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 10, featuring holiday music by Bill Busse, Joyce Schultz, and Sandy Ettesvold. Guests may bring a lunch. Coffee and snacks will be available. Donations are appreciated.
Friends and Fiction Book Club
Bring your passion for literature and join Cyndi Johnson and Sara Gudahl for their adult Book Club from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18 in the SMEC building’s community room. Several different genres will be selected. Registration closes for each month one week prior to that month’s meeting. The moderators have a book list but suggestions will be taken. Fee: $5. Registration is required, costs $5, and closes on Dec. 11. At the meeting, the club will discuss Remarkably Bright Creatures and will begin reading Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng (a look into family relationships and what parenthood, either biological or by adoption, means…until Izzy burns her family home down) Ten copies will be provided.
Aktion Club to meet Thursday
Aktion Club Theatre, a part of Kiwanis International, will meet from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12 from at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. For additional information about the theater group, contact Pat Kietzer at (507)848-5017.
