HRC to hold Thursday meeting

The Human Rights Committee of Martin County will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Fairmont. Following the guidelines from the nationally respected Minnesota Department of Human Rights, the group strives to encourage respect and maintain dignity for all the residencies of Martin County. All are welcome to join.

Kiwanis theatre company to start rehearsal

Kiwanis International’s Aktion Theatre, will meet for rehearsal from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. For additional information about the theatre group, contact Pat Kietzer at (507) 848-5017.

American Legion to distribute poppies

Volunteers from the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 36 will be distributing poppies at HyVee, Fareway, and Bomgaars stores in Fairmont, in observance of Martin County veterans on Saturday, Nov. 9 and Monday, Nov. 11. All funds received will be go toward veteran programs in the area. Poppy distribution says, ‘Remember Our Veterans’. Wear a poppy proudly.

Novak to teach acupressure

CER invites Janice Novak to teach weight-losing acupressure in her new fitness and wellness webinar from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 18, in a Zoom meeting. Acupressure is an Eastern healing technique that involves pressing or massaging key points on the body to stimulate energy flow through pathways called meridians. In this workshop, participants will learn the main pressure points that help strengthen thyroid function, boost metabolism, control appetite, decrease food cravings, reduce stress eating, and strengthen the entire digestive system. Registration is required, costs $29, and closes on Nov. 14.

Novak to teach posture correction

CER invites Janice Novak to teach posture correction in her fitness and wellness webinar from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, in a Zoom meeting. Participants will learn how to correct common posture problems and learn an ‘Instant Alignment Technique’ that improve standing straightness. The workshop will discuss easy to implement tips when at a computer, in a car, or working out. There are many benefits to improving posture. It is never too late to make changes towards good posture. Participants will need a resistance band for some of the exercises. Registration is required, costs $29, and closes on Nov. 15.

Western Gala at Best Western Hotel

A Western-Gala event will be held beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, at the Fairmont Event Center in the Best Western Hotel. Games, dinner, silent auctions, live auctions and additional entertainment are included in the event. The theme is Gala-Western, therefore informal attire is acceptable. This event is sponsored and made possible by the The LWML of St Paul Lutheran Church and School-Fairmont. Tickets are $50 per person. Attendants may buy an eight person table for $350. Proceeds from ticket sales support the projects of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and St Paul Lutheran School in Fairmont.
