UCC to have autumn community banquet

First Congregational United Church of Christ, located in Fairmont’s Downtown Plaza, will have a free community meal beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30. The dinner includes chili, garlic bread, homemade applesauce, bars, cookies, milk, coffee, and water. The church will be serving the food until the supply has run out. All are welcome to attend. Sweet Financial to welcome guest speaker

Sweet Financial Partners will present speaker Ryan Stamrood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at Fairmont Junior & High School (FHS). Stamrood, an extreme swimmer and motivational speaker from South Africa, will give an inspirational talk. Stamrood is described as often pushing boundaries of what’s possible. This lesson by Stamrood aims to help guests realize the several amounts of possibilities in one’s life. For many years, Sweet Financial has committed to bringing quality speakers to their clients, community, and youth of Fairmont and surrounding areas. Make a fedora hat in art class

CER will offer an adult art class where participants make designs into a hat, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 6 in room 216 in the SMEC building. Participants can learn the art of burning intricate designs onto fedoras, transforming them into unique, wearable works of art. The instructor, Kandice Amundson, will guide participants through every step, from designing your concept to completing the final burn, ensuring each hat reflects their style. There will be a variety of color options. Class dismissals may vary depending on the complexity of the project. Registration is required, costs $75, and closes Oct. 30.
