Garden Club to host Wednesday meeting
City of Lakes Garden Club will hold its next meeting at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, in Room 117 at Fairmont United Methodist Church in Fairmont. Please call or text Leslie Walkowiak at (651) 895-6578 to RSVP your attendance so adequate accommodations can be provided. The meeting will consist of an election of officers, a review of the garden club’s by-laws and constitution, and determining presentation topics and civic projects for the upcoming year. Please bring suggestions and ideas of what you would like the group to study in 2024. Committee assignments and hosts for monthly meetings will also be determined at the meeting. Annual membership dues for 2025 will be collected at this meeting. After the business meeting, there will be an informative presentation on “What’s Killing Oak Trees in Minnesota – Oak Wilt Disease or 2-Lined Chestnut Borer?”The Garden Club meets the first Wednesday of each month. The host/hostess for the month may choose the location and time for the meeting. 3M employees, past and present, will meet for lunch noon Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Green Mill Restaurant in Fairmont.
American Legion to hold Tuesday meeting
American Legion Auxiliary Unit 36 of Fairmont will meet 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 300 Downtown Plaza in Fairmont. All interested are encouraged to attend the meeting. For additional information, contact (507) 230-4444.
