Library plans events next week
Martin County Library will offer various events next week. First, meet Munchkin the Miniature Horse 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, at the Fairmont Library, 110 N. Park St. in Fairmont and 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, at the Truman Community Building. Munchkin is a miniature horse with dwarfism. Meet Munchkin, enjoy a story and make an art project that helps us celebrate what makes us different and unique. This program is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant provided by the Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. Also, join library staff for Books and Brews Morning Edition beginning 10 a.m. Thursday, July 18, at the Fairmont Library. Staff will highlight books about or set during WWI. Bring your coffee and join them. There is no cost to attend this event and registration is not required.
Lakes Foundation seeks volunteers next week
Our native revegetation is moving forward. The plants are ready for pickup and planting. We have 2500 plants, in 4 inch pots ready to be planted. Now we need volunteers to help. Please step up and help us with our lakes. Time needed is 8 a.m. Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20, if there is still work to do. Show up with a shovel or spade and be prepared to wade in shallow water for planting. All planting will be done in water 2 feet or less in depth. Meet at Gomsrud Park in Fairmont for instructions. Then head to planting locations on Hall Lake and Sisseton Lake. Contact information is: info@fairmontlakesfoundation.com. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
