Sportsman Club sets shooting event

East Chain Sportsman’s Club will hold a trap shoot event beginning noon Sunday, May 5, at the club located a half-mile north of East Chain on 254th Avenue. They will be shooting practice rounds, then 16-yard and 25-yard Oakley’s and Boondocks. All shooters are welcome. The grill will be on all day. For more information, contact Moby at (507) 236-4189. Service Club to meet Tuesday

The Fairmont Service Club will hold its next weekly meeting noon Tuesday, May 7, at the Best Western in Fairmont. Featured speaker will be Stephanie Busiahn, Director, Fairmont Community Education and Recreation. Guests are always welcome. With questions, call Lorin Pollock at (507) 230-4800.

People First plans Tuesday meeting

People First will hold its next monthly meeting from 4-5:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, at the Pizza Ranch, Fairmont. Guest speaker this month will be Marais Wakem from Arc of Minnesota. She will talk about inclusion in Minnesota. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. Anybody that has questions about this self-advocacy group can call Pat Kietzer at (507) 848-5017.

Chubb House holds Wednesday coffee

The public is invited to join Chubb House committee members for coffee and treats beginning 10 a.m. every Wednesday morning at the Chubb House, 209 Lake Ave. in Fairmont. Stop by each Wednesday and appreciate one of Fairmont’s historical treasures.

Kids Bike Safety Rodeo Wednesday

The Kiwanis Early Risers Club, Community Education and Recreation, Fairmont Police Department and the Fairmont Bicycle Shoppe, will be sponsoring a Kids Bike Safety Rodeo. This free event will be held in conjunction with the International Walk/Bike to School Day from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, on the west side parking lot of the Fairmont Elementary School. Fairmont Police Department will be providing instructions on bike handling and conduct a Safety Riding Skills Course. Larry Vogel from the Fairmont Bicycle Shoppe will provide light bicycle adjustments, with Kiwanis members filling up bike tires with air as needed.
