Martin Luther cancels Sunday dinner
A baked potato dinner that was planned for Sunday, Oct. 15, at Martin Luther High School in Northrop has been canceled.
Play Café Tuesday at Fairmont Library
Play Café, for children newborn to age 5 and their caregivers, will meet 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at the Martin County Library, 110 N. Park St. in Fairmont. Join library staff to explore and play at the library. There is no cost to attend and no need to register. For questions, call the library at (507) 238-4207.
IHD committee to meet Tuesday
Interlaken Heritage Days Committee will hold a meeting starting 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Minuteman Press located at 414 N. State Street in Fairmont. Everyone is welcome to attend.
CER to offer upcoming community activities
Fairmont Community Education & Recreation (CER) will offer two upcoming community activities. First, The Top Ten Estate Planning Mistakes To Avoid class will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, at the Southern MN Educational Campus (SMEC) building, 115 S. Park St. in Fairmont. This course will teach you the top ten estate planning mistakes to avoid and will focus on the tools and the process of creating effective estate plans that work on disability and death. Estate Planning and Elder Law Attorney, Cassandra Lustfield, will teach you how to control your assets while you are alive and well, how best to plan for our loved ones while avoiding the unnecessary taxes, costs, and legal problems, and how to pass your assets to your loved ones in a way that is best for you and them. They will discuss trusts, wills, powers of attorney, health care directives and their best uses. This is a free class. Please pre-register to ensure class is held. Next, Fairmont 3 on 3 Boys Basketball League for those in grades 3-6 will be held 6:30-8 p.m. at Fairmont Elementary School, 714 Victoria St. in Fairmont. This is an opportunity for players of all levels in grades 3 through 6 to learn and play the game of basketball. Each session will include skill development and 3 on 3 games. After the first week, students will be split into permanent 3 on 3 teams. Players will be grouped by grade level with 3rd and 4th graders together and 5th and 6th graders together. The fee is $47 and includes a tee-shirt. Parent volunteers/coaches are needed. Please register ASAP. For any further questions, call CER at (507) 235-3141.
