LE SUEUR - The Blue Earth Area Bucs girls tennis team remained perfect in dual meets on the season, while the Fairmont Cardinals lost a pair of close contests during Friday's triangular in Le Sueur.
Blue Earth Area generated three team tallies from the singles court to help produce a 5-2 victory over Fairmont.
Karleigh Wolff continued her winning ways by generating a 6-1, 6-0 decision over the Cardinals' Shantel Quist during No. 1 singles action.
Natali Fellows outdueled Lauren Carlson at third singles, 6-2, 6-3, while Bucs' teammate Gracie Leland netted a 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Leah Fortune at No. 4 singles.
Karli Olsen and Lacey Benz combined to serve a 6-1, 6-0 loss to Fairmont's Madisyn Plumhoff and Brittany Bass at No. 2 doubles, while Blue Earth Area's Angie Cyphers and Malarie Scholtes outslugged Hayley Fogelson and Morgan Cihoski at third doubles, 6-3, 6-4.
Fairmont netted its two points against Blue Earth Area at second singles and first doubles.
Abby Fitzgerald and Sophie Shelgren reunited to outduel Beka Krussow and Paige Darrington in doubles action, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4), while Ellie Tonder outlasted the Bucs' Anikka Wilhelmi in a third-set super tiebreaker 10-7. Wilhelmi won the opening set by a 6-2 decision before Tonder netted the second set by a 6-4 decision.
Blue Earth Area then duplicated its winning margin at the expense of the host Giants in the final meet of the double dual.
Wolff spearheaded the Bucs' singles charge by outslugging Carlie Brandt in a third-set super tiebreaker 10-5. Wolff claimed the No. 1 singles match's first set by a 6-4 score before Brandt answered with a 6-1 second-set win.
Darrington moved from doubles to singles and posted a 6-1, 6-3 win over Janie Schwartz at the No. 3 spot in the lineup for the Bucs, while Leland remained at fourth singles to pocket back-to-back 6-1 set wins over Maddy Meyer.
Fellows and Karli Olsen forged skills at No. 1 doubles to reel off back-to-back 6-1 set victories over Katherine Cronk and Tracy Eischens, while the Bucs' No. 3 doubles team of Cyphers and Scholtes outlasted Erika Cronk and Ann Fraser, 6-4, 6-4.
Breanna Schug squeezed by Wilhelmi in a third-set super tiebreaker 10-8. Wilhelmi posted a 6-1 opening-set win before Schug reversed the second set's score in her favor.
Kennedy Straub and Acy Adamzak netted LSH's second team point by outdueling Benz and Krussow at second doubles, 3-6, 6-3, (13-11).
The Giants opened the triangular by sweeping the doubles bracket to edge the Cardinals, 4-3.
Katherine Cronk and Eischens teamed for a 6-2, 6-0 win over Plumhoff and Carlson at No. 1 doubles, while Adamzak and Straub posted the identical margin of victory over the Cardinals' Fortune and Anna Hernes at second doubles.
Erica Cronk and Fraser capped the Giants' sweep of the bracket by fending off Fogelson and Bass at the No. 3 spot, 6-2, 6-4, while Brandt downed Shelgren at first singles, 6-0, 6-1.
Fitzgerald, Quist and Tonder each delivered straight-set victories for Fairmont during singles play. Fitzgerald outslugged Schug, 7-5, 6-2; Quist served a 6-2, 6-1 loss to Schwartz; while Tonder edged Meyer by a 6-4, 6-2 decision.
Fairmont (0-4) hosts Pipestone Area on Tuesday, while Blue Earth Area (5-0) hosts Belle Plaine on Monday.
