To the Editor:
On behalf of myself and my sister, Lourdes Vicente, who lives in the Philippines, I would like to thank everyone involved with raising funds for my sister who had her home damaged from the strong typhoon last year.
Thanks to the Sentinel and the Photo Press for printing follow-ups on the recovery that affected my family.
Special thanks to my church, St. John Vianney Catholic, and our priest, Father Schuster, for talking to the Knights of Columbus and putting an announcement in the church bulletin about my homemade egg rolls and the breakfast benefit.
The Knights of Columbus held a breakfast benefit Aug. 17. It was a success and the attendance was very good. There were many parishioners from St. John Vianney, as well as friends from other churches.
The Awana Club of Covenant Evangelical Church in Trimont donated $675; Knights of Columbus donated $1,389; proceeds from egg rolls and personal donations came out to $1,075. I appreciate everyone's hard work. You all are the army of the Lord, willing to help out those in need.
The total amount raised was $3,139. My sister already received some of this money earlier and is rebuilding her house now. With her income of $8 per day, it would take months to save that much money.
Thank you to the community for all your kindness and support for my sister. May the good Lord Jesus Christ bless you all abundantly.
