Vivian Mae Erickson
SHERBURN - A Celebration of Life Service for Vivian Mae Erickson, 91, of Sherburn, Minn., will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Sherburn with Pastor Susan Lester Officiating. Burial will be in Sherburn Cemetery in Sherburn, Minn.
Vivian was called to his eternal rest on Thursday evening, July 3, 2014, at Temperance Lake Ridge Assisted Living in Sherburn, Minn. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Sherburn and one hour prior to the services Tuesday at the Church. Vivian Mae Baumann the daughter of Caroline Baumann, was born May 10, 1923, in Elm Creek Township, Martin County, Minnesota. She received her education at Sherburn schools, graudating in 1942. On Oct. 24, 1942, he was united in marriage to Russell E. Erickson at South Mills, N.C., while in the service. After Russ returned home from World War II, they farmed in the Armstrong, Iowa, area until moving to the Sherburn farm in 1950. She remained on the farm in Jay Township until moving to Temperance Lake Ridge Assisted Living in Sherburn in 2008. Russ died on June 27, 2011. Vivian was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Sherburn since 1937. Vivian held various church offices, was active in the Church Women's Fellowship, serving as treasurer for thirty years. She helped with screenings at Martin County Schools, also helped many years at the Bloodmobile. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Martin County Historical Association, the Sherburn Historical Association. She loved to travel and play golf. Vivian also spent a lot of time making quilts.
Surviving are her two daughters, Sandra (Stanley) Nelson of rural Sherburn, Minn., and Carolyn "Babe" (Jim) Nelson of Cannon Falls, Minn.; two sons, Jerry (Gayleen) Erickson of Austin, Texas, and Mike (Diana) Erickson of rural Sherburn, Minn.; twelve grandchildren, Mike Nelson, Brent (Amy) Nelson, Elsa (Jay) Larkin, Chad (Nina) Nelson, Kia (Brad) Ringnell, Josh (Natalie) Erickson, Carrie (Mark) Johnson, Petra (Ryan) Hagen, Chris (Carla) Nelson, Carna (DJ) Visagie, Chelsea (Will) Thayer and Holly Erickson; sixteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sally Baumann of Anthem, Ariz., and Katherine Erickson of Mankato, Minn.; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Vivian was preceded in death by his parents; husband, Russell Erickson; brothers, Cliff, Ervin, twin Robert Baumann; and other relatives.
