MANKATO - It was the same score but a different outcome as the Mankato Nationals and Fairmont American Legion Post 36 baseball teams squared off on Wednesday in Mankato.
Fairmont beat the Nationals 4-3 at home on Monday night, but this time the Nationals, scored one run in the bottom of the sixth inning to outlast Fairmont 4-3.
Devin Ries scored the game-winning run with the help of a leadoff triple for the Nationals.
Shane Sellner had two hits including a double and scored a run for the Nationals, while Alex Goettl had two hits including a two-run triple and a run scored.
Conor Wolenzien added a pair of hits for the Nationals in the win.
Jack Waletich had a pair of hits including an RBI double and scored a run to top Fairmont's offensive efforts.
Nathan Gillis had a two-run single, while Nate Johnson and Spencer Chirpich each added hits.
Luke Becker also blasted a double in the game.
Gillis pitched the first five innings for Fairmont, allowing three runs on seven hits, striking out two, walking three and hitting two batters in a no decision.
Nate Johnson pitched one inning, allowing one run on two hits to absorb the loss.
Mack Seyerns pitched six innings for the Nationals, allowing three runs on five hits, striking out six, walking one and hitting one batter to earn the win.
Josh Cook then earned the save, only allowing two hits, striking out two and walking one in the top of the seventh inning.
Fairmont (1-3) plays host to the Las Vegas All-Stars in a doubleheader at 5:30 p.m. today at Herb Wolf Field.
