MISSION VIEJO, Calif. - Maurice (Moe) Franke, 76, of Mission Viejo, Calif., died Sunday, May 18, 2014, at his home in Mission Viejo surrounded by all of his family after a year and one half battle with pancreatic cancer.
Services were held on May 23, 2014, at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Mission Viejo, Calif., and burial was held in Ascension Cemetery, Lake Forest, Calif.
Maurice was born May 19, 1937, in Austin, Minn. His family eventually moved to Fairmont, Minn., where he grew up and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1955. He married Marlene (Cole) Franke in 1958. He spent 37 years working for the 3M Company, first in Fairmont, then in St. Paul, and lastly in California until his retirement in 1993.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marlene; his daughters, Elizabeth Meier of Parker, Colo., Kathleen Sawicky of Mission Viejo, Calif.; his son, Andrew Franke of San Clemente, Calif.; his six grandchildren; his brother, Roger Franke and sister-in-law Dorothy Franke of Burnsville, Minn.; his sister, Lois Didriksen of St. Cloud, Minn.; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roger and Sandy Cole of Gainsville, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Delores Franke; and two daughters, Amy and Jennifer.
