FAIRMONT - Services for Geneva V. Olson, 93, of Fairmont, Minn., are being handled by Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont. As per Geneva's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
Geneva passed away on Wednesday evening, May 21, 2014, at St. Luke's Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth, Minn.
Geneva Viola Olson was born March 27, 1921, in Estherville, Iowa, the daughter of C.P. and Mary (Pahus) Christensen. She attended school in Gruver and Halfa, Iowa, and later graduated from Dolliver High School in 1939. Geneva lived in Minnesota for most of her life, spending winters in Arizona. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont and a member of the Fairmont Hospital Auxiliary. Geneva spent over 10 years volunteering for the Fairmont Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed helping out in the kitchen while visiting with the people. She made many new friends through her work there. The family would like to share one of Geneva's favorite Bible verses - Luke 23:43: "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise."
Geneva is survived by one daughter, Joyce Rosen (Garry) of Fairmont, Minn.; one son, Dale Smith of Mesa, Ariz.; four granddaughters, Dawn Fenner (Mark) of Parkville, Mo., Sherri Christensen (Craig) of Fairmont, Minn., Tisha England (Everett) of Amarillo, Texas, and Marnie McCabe (Andy) of Dallas, Texas; 10 great-grandchildren, Logan Christensen, Payton, Cole and Caleb Fenner, Kylie and Cody Kennann, Lance England (Hannah), and Cate, Ben and Molly McCabe; one great-great-grandchild, Brayden England; one brother, Russell Christensen (Dorothy) of Belvidere, Ill.
