BLUE EARTH - Micaela Gochanour achieved a rarity in prep softball on Tuesday.
Gochanour slugged a grand slam home run in both ends of a South Central Conference doubleheader to power the Fairmont Cardinals to a sweep over the Blue Earth Area Bucs in Blue Earth.
Gochanour went 3-for-4 with a grand slam homer in the third inning en route to five RBIs to pace the Cardinals' opening 11-0, five-inning triumph over the Bucs.
Gochanour, who finished the twinbill with an incredible nine RBIs, pounded a second-inning grand slam to help engineer Fairmont's 11-1, five-inning victory over BEA in Game 2.
But Gochanour was not alone in supplying potent offense from the batter's box as Courtney Guetter went a combined 5-for-8 with three RBIs on the two-game span. Guetter went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in Game 1.
Aly Eversman went 2-for-4, Allison Moeller went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, while Taylor Nuss singled in a run during the Cardinals' opener.
Eversman fired a one-hit shutout in the opener, striking out five and walking four in five frames to earn the complete-game win.
Caitlyn Holm generated the Bucs' only hit of Game 1.
Buc starting pitcher Angie Cyphers allowed 11 runs on nine hits, struck out one and walked six in four innings to take the loss. Bethany Olson gave up one hit and struck out two in one shutout inning of relief.
Abby Fitzgerald went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles to help ignite Fairmont's offense in Game 2, while Guetter went 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Kristen Campe smacked a two-run home run in the first inning en route to a 3-for-4 performance and three RBIs for the Cardinals, while Moeller added a 2-for-3 effort.
Mikayla Krzywicki allowed one run on five hits, struck out four and did not issue a walk in five frames to earn the complete-game victory for Fairmont in Game 2.
Fairmont (9-7, 4-2 SCC) travels to Waseca on Friday, while Blue Earth Area travels to Waseca on Thursday.

Desi Becker went 3-for-5 with a double for Cleveland, while Megan Gjemse went 2-for-4. Lily Hollerich netted an RBI double, while Cassidy Kopet singled in a run.
Briannia Pearson went 2-for-5 with an RBI to top the Jayhawks, while Savannah Hodge singled and scored a run. Sierra McCraw added a hit for M/T, while Melody Colon scored a run.
