FAIRMONT - The cooks in the kitchen at Asian Palace are keeping busy, serving up Americanized and authentic Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese dishes.
The establishment recently opened to much anticipation, and the response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive, according to restaurant staff.
"I think we'll have success, because we put out fresh, quality food," said manager Johny Vuong, who has been in the industry 17 years.

He has helped launch Asian restaurants throughout the United States and moved to Fairmont to assist owner Huang "Valerie" Tran.
Huang also owns and operates a successful restaurant by the same name in Spirit Lake, Iowa. That establishment has been open six years, and before that, she was part-owner of a restaurant in California. Huang is a first-generation immigrant from China, who has resided in the United Sates for 23 years.
The cooks at the Asian Palace in Fairmont are also first-generation immigrants from China. Some of the dishes prepared served at Asian Palace are made from recipes native to their home countries of China, Thailand, Vietnam and Japan. Many entrees and appetizers are Americanized to suit the majority of their patrons' palates. Popular entrees with the new clientele in Fairmont have been the pad thai, and there have been many requests for sushi, which was unavailable until today.
Asian Palace is a sit-down restaurant that also offers take-out orders, ready in 20-30 minutes, and delivery within five miles of the restaurant. The menu includes about 150 items, with lunch specials from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. seven days a week. Hours are 11 a.m to 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Beer, wine and saki are available.
