REDWOOD FALLS - The Redwood Valley boys tennis team was able to hold off the Blue Earth Area Bucs to capture the 4-3 nonconference victory on Tuesday at the indoor tennis facility in Redwood Falls.
The Bucs' Hunter Myers defeated the Cardinals' Armando Davila in matching 6-2, 6-2 set victories at second singles to give Blue Earth Area its first point of the match.
Chance Andrews then beat Nate Benson at fourth singles with a 6-1, 6-3 straight-set win.
Leon Chaudhari had a chance to give the Bucs their second dual meet win of the season, battling in a three-set first-singles match against Tyler Hagen.
Chaudhari came out firing, beating Hagen in a 7-5 first set win. Hagen then bounced back, winning the second set 6-4.
In a super tiebreaker for the third set, Hagen managed to take the edge, winning 10-6 over Chaudhari.
Max Russell claimed the Cardinals other singles victory, beating Chandler Kienitz in matching 6-2, 6-2 sets at third singles.
Martin Granados and Jaron King teamed up at first doubles to get the Bucs closer to their dual meet win.
The junior duo downed Cole Pettis and Sam Christeson 6-2, 6-4 in straight sets.
The Cardinals managed to win both of the other doubles matches though, clinching the win in the meet.
Beau Nesburg and Michael Davila beat Justus Thelen and Spencer Petersen 6-4, 7-5 at second doubles, before Jon Lammers and Aaron Boyle downed Mason Hehr and Parker Kienitz 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 doubles.
Blue Earth Area (1-7, 0-3 SCC) travels to play in a 4:30 p.m. South Central Conference meet on Friday at New Ulm.
