To the Editor:
My name is Kristy Kittleson and I'm a type-2 diabetic. As I enter my fifth year with this disease, I'm entering my fourth year of taking part in the Tour de Cure for Diabetes as a red rider (a person who rides with diabetes). I'll be riding in the Tour de Cure in Sioux Falls on July 12, due to a conflict in scheduling with the Rochester ride that I normally take part in. Even though the location has changed for me this year, the ultimate goal of the Tour de Cure has remained the same.
A unique thing about the Tour de Cure is that all funds raised go directly toward research and, one day, finding a cure for diabetes. I'm committed to ride and raise money in this inspirational event, not because 26 million people in the United States have diabetes, and not because I'm one of them, but because I want to be a part of doing something about it.
Won't you please help me start a chain reaction by making a fully deductible donation to my goal of raising $2,000 for diabetic research?
Donations can be made out to the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and mailed to Kristy Kittleson, 1169 85th St., Welcome, MN 56181, or by giving me a call at (507) 236-2641, and I'll gladly come and pick up your donation. I sincerely appreciate your time and consideration in helping me reach my goal for this very worthwhile cause. One thing I'll carry on my bike with me July 12 as I pedal my way on a 30-mile route is a list of everyone who has helped me reach my goal because I truly do appreciate your support.
