Patricia ‘Pat’ Jean Kusler

VERNON CENTER - Patricia "Pat" Jean Kusler, age 63, of Vernon Center, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 22, 2014, with family and friends by her side at the Mapleton Community Home. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Vernon Center with Monte Meyer officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Olson-Tichenor Funeral Home in Mapleton and will continue one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the Vernon Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Mapleton Community Home.

Patricia Jean Dorschner was born Jan. 17, 1951, in Lakefield, Minn., to Wayne Merle Dorschner and Jean Kate Thomas. She graduated from Jackson High School in 1969. She was united in marriage to Gerald Pedersen in 1969 and they later divorced. On Nov. 20, 1982, Pat married John Kusler in Sherburn, Minn. In her earlier years, Pat worked at several places, Lakeview Methodist Home, Good Counsel, Willie's Caf in Vernon Center, Pumpkin Land and she also served as an election judge. Pat enjoyed going out with friends and attending craft shows. She liked watching murder/mystery shows and talking on the phone. The greatest joy and light of her life were her children and grandchildren.

Pat is survived by her husband, John; two sons, Timothy Pedersen, and Scott (Stephanie) Pedersen; grandchildren, Patrick and Nicole Pedersen and Ella, Natalie, Ethan, and Cole Pedersen; mother-in-law, Laverne Kusler; brother, Robert (Juanita) Dorschner; brothers-in-law, Mark and Mathew Kusler; sisters-in-law, Katherine (Glen) Petersen, Margaret (Todd) Rosenberg, Teresa (Steve) Cooling, Patricia (Dave) Fleming, and Elizabeth (Brent) Soderstrum; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Tom.

The family would like to thank the Mapleton Community Home and the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice Team for their wonderful care.
