ALGONA, Iowa - The Belmond-Klemme Broncos utilized a balanced scoring attack to run away from the North Union Warriors, 59-36, during Iowa Class 1A boys basketball playoff action Friday night at Bishop Garrigan High School in Algona, Iowa.
Belmond-Klemme (19-3) advances to face the winner between West Hancock and Bishop Garrigan in the District 3 semifinals at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night in Lake Mills, Iowa.
North Union ended its season with a 5-19 overall record.

Forward Colin Lane and center Elijah Kinseth each delivered six points during the opening quarter to help stake the Broncos to a 16-4 advantage heading into the second segment.
Aric Runge delivered five points, Trent Pedersen connected on a 3-pointer and Colin Runksmeier netted three points during North Union's 13-point second frame to trail Belmond-Klemme at intermission, 33-17.
Caleb Torkelson, however, dialed long distance twice to spark the Broncos' 18-9 scoring edge over the Warriors during the third quarter to widen their margin to 51-26.
Lane scored a game-best 15 points to pace the Broncos' balanced performance, while Court Christianson supplied 12 points to the winning effort.
Kinseth and Torkelson each finished with 10 points, while Logan Erickson came off the Belmond-Klemme bench to contribute seven points.
Runksmeier generated nine points to top North Union's effort, while teammates Jacob Braddock and Runge collected seven points apiece.
Pedersen finished with five points for the Warriors, while teammate Kaleb Olson netted four points.
