Lila Mae Koeritz

NORTHROP - Memorial services for Lila Mae Koeritz, 87, Northrop, Minn., will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at St. James Lutheran Church, Northrop, Minn., with Rev. Robert Trueblood, officiating. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery.

Lila died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Lutz Wing in Fairmont. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at Zaharia Family Funeral and Cremation Service of Truman, and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Lila Mae Becker was born Oct. 18, 1926, in Northrop, Minn., to August and Augusta (Lueth) Becker. She was baptized on Nov. 7, 1926, by Rev. C. C. Metz and confirmed on March 17, 1940, by Rev. Elmer Koberg. Lila attended St. James Lutheran School and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1944. On Oct. 9, 1949, Lila was united in marriage to Vinton "Butch" Koeritz at St. James Lutheran Church in Northrop. Lila worked at Northrop Peoples State Bank, Becker Grain and Lumber, and L.H. Grain, all in Northrop, retiring in 1989. Lila was a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church in Northrop and was a member of the church's Ladies Aid. She was a member of the Northrop American Legion Post 522 Auxiliary and the Martin County VFW Post 1222 Auxiliary in Fairmont for many years. Lila enjoyed baking and spending time with her grandchildren.

Lila is survived by one son, Tom Koeritz and wife, Heidi, of Northrop; one son-in-law, Warren Schultze and wife, Carole, of Northrop; five grandchildren, Stacie (Todd) Boynton of Greenfield, Mass., Jennifer Schultze of San Mateo, Calif., Nicholas Schultze of Estherville, Iowa, Hayley Koeritz of Luverne, Minn., and Mason Koeritz of Northrop, Minn.; one brother, Erhardt Becker of Fort Meyers, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Harder of Fairmont, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vinton; one daughter, Linda Schultze; sisters, Elna Kasten, Dayla Becker, Lorna Kosbab, Arlene Schaefer; and brothers, Edwin Becker and Clarence Becker.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. James Lutheran School or Martin Luther High School, both in Northrop.
