Fairmont Sentinel

ELMORE - Bryce Arlyn Krosch, age 65, died Jan. 28, 2014, at St Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn. Memorial services will be 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at Jacobsen and Winter Funeral Home in Blue Earth. Visitation will be from 4-5:30 p.m. Saturday, also at the funeral home.

Bryce Arlyn Krosch was born April 7, 1948, to Marion and Sylvia (Sailor) Krosch. He grew up and attended high school in Elmore, Minn. While attending school in Elmore, Bryce worked many jobs on the farm and for local neighbors; walking beans, bailing hay, milking cows, cleaning barns and working in a gas station. Bryce also worked in the school kitchen. He was involved with wrestling and Eclub through high school. After graduation from Elmore High School in 1966, Bryce worked at Dehi in Blue Earth, Minn., as a truck driver, then at Atom Ation Co. with Bert Fiser as an automatic screw machine operator. Bryce was drafted into the U.S. Army in February 1968, survived basic training at Fort Knox, Ky., and spent just over a year in Vietnam (enough said, as he always told everyone) then finished two years goofing off at Fort Hood, Texas. Bryce then entered Brown Institute of Minneapolis studying electronics. While going to school Bryce lived with his sister JoAnne and worked 40 hours a week at a grocery store and sold Fuller Brush's. After graduation in 1971, Bryce started working at Telex in Blue Earth as an electronic technician and retired after 31 years in 2003. On Dec. 7, 1974, Bryce married Diane Doocy Krosch, living together in Elmore with their children Troy and Tina. They later divorced in 2003.

Bryce enjoyed doing small landscaping jobs, being in his many gardens, sitting on his patio drinking a Pepsi, watching the birds and most of all his humming birds, spending time with friends and family and taking vacations to Mexico and Florida. He was famous for his homemade chicken noodle soup; he served many soup suppers and just made it to share with family and friends.

Bryce is survived by his daughter, Tina (David) Marxen of Blue Earth; stepson, Troy (Gretchen) Krosch of Fairmont; granddaughter, Tierra; step-grandchildren, Brittany, Brady, Cierra, Courtney, Lee and John; brothers, Marvin (Myrna), Gwen (Bev) of Elmore, Minn., Glen, Bruce (Julie), and Brad (Lisa) of Blue Earth, Minn.; sisters, Lavonne Swearingen of Kiester Minn., Janet (Donald) Richter of Onamia, Minn., JoAnne Fiser, Kathi (special friend Bob) Krosch of Minneapolis, Minn., Loree (Dean) Vereide, and Darla (Jeff) Schaefer of Blue Earth, Minn.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Bryce was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Merle, Beryl, Paul and Phillip.
