MARSHALL - Senior Rebecca Steen and freshman Bryanna Peterson garnered top individual accolades in the all-around competition to power the Martin County Area Magic gymnasts to a 129.4-103.2 victory over the Marshall Tigers on Thursday night in Marshall.
Steen generated a first-place all-around score of 34.5 to pace the nonconference dual-meet decision, while Peterson claimed runner-up honors with a 32.05.
Steen earned the judges' top marks on the vault (9.475), balance beam (9.275) and floor exercise (8.35), while placing third on the uneven parallel bars (7.4).
Meanwhile, Peterson chalked up the uneven parallel bars crown by posting a first-place mark of 7.925. The Magic freshman phenom also netted third place on the vault with an 8.625 and tied teammate Mackenzie Betts for third-place honors on the balance beam with an 8.1. Peterson also compiled a 7.4 on floor.
Martha Olson claimed second place on the vault for Martin County Area by generating a 9.025, while Briana Gratz pocketed runner-up accolades on the uneven bars with a 7.575-scored routine.
Jenna Steele delivered a second-place total of 8.175 points on the balance beam for the Magic, while Lexy Ringnell and Brielle Meade rounded out the top three on the floor exercise. Ringnell claimed second place with a 7.625, while Meade took third with a 7.5.
Betts supplied an 8.55 on the vault, while Andrea Thate added a 7.3 on the unevens.
Martin County Area (3-1) returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 4, when it competes in the Faribault Invitational.
