Delbert Hardecopf

ARMSTORNG, Iowa - Visitation for Delbert Hardecopf of Armstrong will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Armstrong. Funeral service will be at the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Armstrong, Iowa, at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, with Pastor Vance Toivonen officiating. Internemt will be at Armstrong Grove Cemetery, Armstrong, with military graveside rites by Weiby-Johnson VFW Post.

Delbert Bernie Hardecopf, the son of Bernie and Beatrice (Peterson) Hardecopf, was born March 11, 1947, in Estherville, Iowa. He passed away Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn., at the age of 66 years.

He received his education in the Armstrong schools, graduating from Armstrong High School. After completing his education Delbert served in the United States Air Force. Following his honorable discharge he returned to the Armstrong area.

On Dec. 29, 1968, Delbert was united in marriage to Janet Richmond at the Presbyterian Church in Armstrong, Iowa. The couple lived in Germany while he was in the service immediately after their wedding and then made their home in Armstrong, where they began raising their family and farmed up until the time of his death.

Delbert loved to travel with his wife, taking trips during the winter months. Cruising was one of his passions. He also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. A long-time season ticket holder for the Minnesota Vikings, Delbert enjoyed watching the games with his son, to whom he passed on his love of the game.

He was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong. He was well loved in the community and will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish Delbert's memory are his wife, Janet of Armstrong; his children, Amy (Scott) Morrow, Welcome, Minn., and Andy (Vanessa) Hardecopf, Carver, Minn.; grandchildren, Todd and Brianna Morrow, Ava and Tate Hardecopf; sister, Bernice Vigdal of Armstrong; brother, Delmer Hardecopf and his wife, Kathy of Armstrong; and also many extended family members. Preceding Delbert in death were his parents, Bernie and Beatrice Hardecopf, along with other family members.
