Mae V. Klug

FAIRMONT - A Celebration of Life service for Mae V. Klug, 91, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome, Minn., with Rev. Anthony Christoffels officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont, Minn.

Mae was called to her eternal rest Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 4, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. Visitation and a time of sharing memories with the Klug Family will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Kramer Family Funeral Home in Welcome.

Mae Viola Voyles was born May 7, 1922, in Fairmont Township, Martin County, Minn., the daughter of Herbert and Mabel (Hansgaard) Voyles. She graduated from Welcome High School in 1940. On Sept. 19, 1942, Mae was united in marriage to Emil Klug in York, S.C. Mae worked at Laskers Clothing Store while Emil was in the service. After Emil was discharged from the service, they bought a farm in Rolling Green Township where they raised their five children. In 1987, they moved to Fairmont. Mae was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. As a member, she belonged to the Elizabeth Circle. She was also an active member of the Welcome Historical Society, Martin County Museum, Heritage Acres Preservation Society, a lifetime member of the Hospital Auxiliary and 20 years with the Redwing Collectors Society. Mae enjoyed gardening, canning, auctions, antiqueing, taking trips and playing cards with family and friends. But what she enjoyed most was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory are: JoAnn Mapson, Kathleen Klug and (Larry Thoe), Kenneth Klug (Cynthia), Clair Klug (Kelley), and Cheryl Schwieger; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Hughes (Brad), Brian Mapson, Matthew Klug, Jessica Klug, Brandon Klug, Summer Bartlett (Steve), Dusty Klug, and Caitie Lawin; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Doris Gruver of Missoula, Mont., Alice Minick of Fairmont, and LaVerna Shaffer of Edwardsville, Ill.; three sisters-in-law, Gladys Voyles of Granada, Minn., Janet Klug of Sherburn, and Delores Houseman of Ceylon; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Mabel Voyles; husband, Emil; brother, Glen Voyles; sister, June Sandberg; infant brother, Duane; infant sister, Fern; and other relatives.
