FAIRMONT - A Celebration of Life memorial service for Joyce M. Evans, 84, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel in Fairmont, with inurnment in Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont.
Joyce passed away Tuesday morning, Nov. 19, 2013, at the Lutz Wing of Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Lakeview Funeral Home on Saturday. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are preferred to Partners in Education or to Fairmont Opera House.
Joyce May (Stewart) Evans was born July 7, 1929, in Fairmont, Minn., the daughter of Stanley and Ella (Chipman) Stewart. She received her education in Fairmont public schools. On Oct. 30, 1947, Joyce was united in marriage to Howard Tonneson in Fairmont, Minn. This union was blessed with five children. Joyce and Howard resided in Fairmont and shared 34 years together before Howard passed away in 1981. On Jan. 26, 1994, Joyce was united in marriage to Ken Evans in Mesa, Ariz. Joyce and Ken resided in Fairmont and enjoyed spending the winters in Mesa, Ariz. The couple shared nearly 20 years together. Joyce worked for the Chamber of Commerce and Clearview Cable TV. She also worked for the United Fund and Bill Small Accounting as a bookkeeper until her retirement in 1991. Joyce was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. She enjoyed fishing, knitting, needlepoint, sewing, playing cards and putting puzzles together. Joyce also enjoyed going to Civic Summer Theater performances and the Opera House. She most loved the time she spent with her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory include her husband, Ken Evans of Fairmont, Minn.; children, Vicky Darnell (Charlie) of Santa Rosa, Calif., Kevin Tonneson (special friend, Julie) of Fairmont, Minn., Jeanne Eigenberg (Russ) of Lakeville, Minn., and Nancy Pickett (Mike) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandchildren, Eric Eigenberg (Suzanne), Sara Wenstad (Peter), Aaron Pickett and Alisha Pickett; great-grandchildren, Kayley Eigenberg, Andrew, Alex, Zach, Isaac and Elliot Wenstad; brother, Bob Stewart (Dorothy); sister, Fern Beyer; sister-in-law, Angie Stewart; brother-in-law, Robert Tonneson; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents, Stanley and Ella Stewart, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Tonneson; son, Roger Tonneson; and brothers, Earl Dean Stewart and Herbert Allen Stewart.
