To the Editor:
Several weeks ago, our family and friends sponsored a benefit to show support for our daughter, Laurie Unke Goerndt. We were totally awed by the number of people who came to support her and our whole family.
Laurie is going through her second bout with cancer in a little over a year. I would like to take this chance to thank everyone for coming out to the benefit and participating in both the live and silent auctions.
Many family members and friends provided food for both the supper and the bake sale. Everything was sold and you all have made Laurie's journey with cancer a little easier.
She is unable to return to her job as a home care provider. She misses all her clients terribly and wants them to know she enjoyed working with them.
As my cousin put it when he came down from the Twin Cities to attend the benefit, "You not only have family and friends supporting Laurie but you have a whole village." I thank God for all of you and for your many kindnesses.
