FAIRMONT - Memorial services for Thelma R. Horgan, 88, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Burial will be held in the Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont.
Thelma passed away Saturday morning, Nov. 16, 2013, at Fairview Hospital in Burnsville, Minn. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of services Friday at the funeral home. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Thelma Rose (Scheppmann) Horgan was born Oct. 20, 1925, in Heron Lake Township, Jackson County, Minn., the daughter of Louis and Johanna (Koch) Scheppmann. She attended school in Lakeville and Fairmont, Minn. On Nov. 2, 1944, Thelma was united in marriage to James Horgan in El Paso, Texas. To this union, three children were born, James, Daniel and Debra. Thelma was a member of the St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont and was also a member of the Senior Citizens Club, Top of the Hill Club, Pep Club, a member of the Fairmont Community Hospital Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary where she served as past president from 1975 to 1976, and a member of the St. John Vianney Church Circle. Thelma enjoyed traveling, playing cards and bingo. She cherished time spent with her family and looked forward to family reunions. Left to cherish her memory are her children, James Horgan and his wife, Diane, Daniel Horgan and his wife, Lori, and Debra and her husband, Steve Schmulske; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene Scheppmann and his wife, Carmon of Las Vegas, Nev., and Gerry Scheppmann and his wife, Jeanne of South Carolina; special friends, Richard, Gloria, and Cindy; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Johana Scheppmann; husband, James Horgan; daughter-in-law, Judi Horgan; son-in-law, Doug; two brothers, Donald Scheppmann and infant brother, Elmer Scheppmann; two sisters, Lydia Zahorsky and Delores Keelblock; three sisters-in-law, Edna Scheppmann, Joan Horgan and Ethel Scheppmann; and two brothers-in-law, Larry Zahorsky and Fred Keelblock.
