FAIRMONT - Funeral services for Lucinda E. Isenberg, 98, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Fairmont. Interment will be in East Chain Evangelical Free Church Cemetery, East Chain, Minn.
Lucinda passed away Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 12, 2013, at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today, Nov. 15, at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center Chapel, Fairmont, and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Memorials are preferred to the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center Nursing Program, the Salvation Army Food Shelf or to the Bethel Evangelical Free Church Youth Program.

Lucinda Evelyn (Carlson) Isenberg was born Oct. 21, 1915, in East Chain, Minn. She was the daughter of Oscar and Hannah (Alm) Carlson. At the age of 2, the family moved to West Point, Minn., and there Lucinda started school. After her mother's death in 1923, Lucinda came to live with her aunt and uncle, Mary and Charlie Anderson, in East Chain. She attended school there from second grade until she was a junior in high school. Lucinda then moved to Fairmont in 1934, and began caring for different families in the area. She also worked for Peerless Cleaners, J.C. Penney Co., Hilda & Nina's Dress Shop and Marie Ladd's, where she worked for 15 years. Lucinda later opened Lu's Big Girl Dress Shop in Fairmont and operated it for 15 years until 1971. On Sept. 6, 1941, Lucinda was united in marriage to Gordon Isenberg in East Chain. The couple resided in Fairmont, where they raised one son, Bruce. She and Gordon shared 63 years together before Gordon passed away in 2004. Lucinda was a member of Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Fairmont where she was a former Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir. She was a W.M.S. chairwoman and a South Central W.M.S. chairwoman. She was a member of many organizations including the Fairmont Downtown Association, B.P.W., SCORE, Salvation Army Board, Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 Auxiliary and Martin County VFW Post 1222 Auxiliary, and most recently was the President of the Resident Council at the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center. During her free time, Lucinda enjoyed cooking, baking, embroidery, quilting baby quilts and traveling.
Left to cherish her memory include her son, Bruce Isenberg (Julie) of Breaux Bridge, La.; granddaughters, Jennifer Wallenfelsz (Jon) of La Crosse, Wis., and Jaclyn Isenberg of La Crosse, Wis.; step grandson, Sage Mouton of Breaux Bridge, La.; great-grandchildren, Keegan and Keira; brother-in-law, Ted Isenberg (Sylvia) of Fairmont, Minn.; nieces, Phyllis Meyer (Gary), Merrilie Olpant (Glen), Beverly Jensen, Barbara Davis, and Mary Williams (Jerry); nephew, Glendon Olson; nephew-in-law, Ronald Van Heuman; several grandnieces; cousin, Ruth Carlson; special friends, Bob and Marlys Steger, MaryAnn Hagen, Bobbie Geurry, Doris Harloff, Fred Link, Bob Stewart and Clare Lidke; other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents Oscar and Hannah Carlson, Lucinda was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Isenberg; brothers, Arnold Carlson (Viola), and Ellsworth Carlson (Irene); sister, Mildred Johnson (Oliver); and half sister, Florence Carlson.
