JACKSON - Donamae Verchota Skrove, 91, died peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society in Jackson, Minn.
Donamae Verchota was born Aug. 3, 1922, in Jackson, to Frank and Esther (Anderson) Verchota. She was raised in Jackson and graduated from Jackson High School in 1940.
Donamae married Adrian Tenold Skrove on March 22, 1942. They spent their life farming and raising their family on the family farm in Belmont Township. Donamae loved gardening, fishing and camping. She was also very active with the Hauges Ladies Aide. She served as an adult leader for the Bergen Beaver 4-H for years, and was a vital part of the neighborhood Birthday Club. Donamae's hobbies included Rosemaling (Norwegian for "decorative painting"), as well as crocheting, knitting, and other types of painting.
Survivors include: her husband of 71 years, Adrian Tenold Skrove; sons, Mark Skrove of Crystal, Minn., Dennis Skrove of Chamberlain, S.D., David (Ann) Skrove of La Crosse, Wis., and John (Brenda) Skrove of Jackson, Minn. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Andrea Jean Thurmer; and son-in-law, Micheal Allen Thurmer.
Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Jackson, Minn. Funeral services will start at 11 a.m., also at the church. There will be a reception lunch following the service.
Family inurnment will take place noon Sunday, Nov. 11, 2013, at Hauges Cemetery, north of Jackson on Highway 71.
