Lorane Mae (Wendt) Schultz was born Jan. 23, 1924, in Fairmont, Minn., the oldest daughter of Elmer F. and Anna (Bengen) Wendt. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lakota, Iowa. Lorane and her future husband graduated from Truman High School in 1942. She was married to Roy R. Schultz in Fairmont, Minn., in 1945. They followed Roy around the world wherever he was stationed in the armed services. Roy was a medical surgical tech and retired after 25 years. They then moved to Lakota, Iowa, where Roy worked for the city and Lorane was the library director of the Lakota Public Library, until she retired and moved to Florida to be near her son Donald and his wife, Rosemarie in Southport, Fla. Lorane had a new home built and moved in 2002. Lorane enjoyed growing flowers and roses outside and had many house plants. She also enjoyed baking sweet bread and pies.

Lorane was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter-in-law, (son Dennis' wife) Kwi Ye (Q); and sister, LeeAnn Minscer.

Left to cherish her memory is a brother, Elmer Wendt and his wife, Lois, of Fairmont, Minn.; sister, Betty Lemke and her husband, Emil, of Fairmont, Minn.; her three sons, Dennis of Roy, Wash., Donald and his wife, Rosemarie, of Southport, Fla., and Kevin of Apple Valley, Minn.; two grandchildren, Keith and Ronald; three great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

The family requests memorials be given in Lorane's name to the family to be used at its discretion.
