TRIMONT - Martin County West middle hitter Kate Thiesse topped a balanced offensive attack to steer the Mavericks to a three-game volleyball sweep over the St. Clair Cyclones on Thursday night in Trimont.

The Mavericks improved to 7-0 in the Valley Conference standings by capturing consecutive games by scores of 25-21, 25-14, 25-11.

Thiesse pounded out a match-leading 17 kills to complement three blocks and five digs, while Maverick teammates Reilly Geistfeld and Hailey Leiding each produced eight kills. Leiding also contributed five digs and two blocks to the victory.

Jordan Gregory recorded seven digs to go with four kills for MCW, while McKenna Taylor generated five kills.

Setter Kennedy Janssen distributed a match-best 33 assists to complement six digs for the Mavericks.

Autumn Smith notched 15 digs to top Martin County West's backrow defensive performance, while Molly Klima and Haley Jensen each contributed nine and six digs, respectively.

Jensen and Smith also delivered a pair of service aces each, while Klima chipped in one ace from the backline.

Martin County West (20-5) hosts Maple River on Tuesday night in Trimont.

Alden-Conger 3, Truman 0 - The Knights swept the Bluejays, 25-11, 25-10, 25-19, during Valley Conference action Thursday night in Alden.

Emily Zaharia recorded seven kills, 17 digs and two blocks to pace Truman.

Hanna Hartman produced five kills for the Bluejays, while teammate Alexis Jahnz delivered 20 digs and two blocks.

Cydney Kilian doled out 15 set assists and made 11 digs for Truman, while Stephanie Jahnz chipped in 16 digs.

Truman (3-14-1, 1-8 Valley) competes in the St. Clair Tournament on Saturday.

New Ulm 3, Blue Earth Area 0 - The Eagles swept the Bucs, 25-12, 25-22, 25-19, during South Central Conference action Thursday night in Blue Earth.

Nicole Krinke collected nine set assists, eight kills and seven digs for BEA, while Audrey McDonald chalked up three kills, nine digs and three points on 9-for-10 serving.

Ciarra Olson supplied five kills and nine digs for the Bucs, Kylie Ahl dished out six set assists, while Haley Resutek completed 10 of 11 serves for two aces to go with seven digs.

Elizabeth Ellis and Samantha Ripley each added two blocks each.

Blue Earth Area (2-19, 0-8 SCC) travels to Fairmont on Tuesday night.
