FAIRMONT - Memorial service for Allan L. Lidke, 79, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at United Methodist Church in Fairmont. Burial will be at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont.
Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 at the United Methodist Church.
Allan passed away Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 25, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont.
Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is in charge of the arrangements.
Allan Lee Lidke was born April 23, 1934, in Fairmont, Minn., the son of Clarence and Alice (Jennings) Lidke. He attended school in Fairmont and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1952. Following his graduation, Allan attended Macalester College in St. Paul.
In 1955, Allan enlisted in the U.S. Army, and received his discharge in 1957. On June 7, 1958, he was united in marriage to Clare Thompson at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fairmont. Allan worked with his father at Unique Cleaners. He also worked for Johnny's Plumbing and Heating for five years. Allan worked at Peerless Cleaners before reopening and owning Unique Cleaners in Fairmont. From 1986 to 1998, Allan managed the Rolling Green Par 3 Golf Course. Later, he worked part time at Interlaken Golf Course, retiring in 2007.
Allan was a member of the United Methodist Church, Interlaken Golf Course and the Jaycees. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing and sitting by the lake.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Clare of Fairmont, Minn.; daughters, Diane Johnson and her husband, Terry, of West Des Moines, Iowa, Christine Gustafson and her husband, David, of Houston, Minn., and Kathryn Pauly and her husband, Marshall, of Ankeny, Iowa; grandchildren, Peter Johnson and his wife, Megan, Tommy Johnson, Ellen Gustafson, Brenna Gustafson, Nicholas Pauly and Alice Pauly; one great-grandson, Micah Allan Johnson; two sisters-in-law, Eloise Lidke of Fairmont, Minn., and Nina Martinson of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; one brother-in-law, David Hytry and his wife, Olivia, of Fairmont, Minn.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Allan was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Alice Lidke; brother, Harlan Lidke; and two brothers-in-law, Terry Thompson and Robert Martinson.
