TRUMAN - The host Truman Bluejays volleyball team finished third, while the Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain Knights finished fourth in the Bluejay Invite Saturday in Truman.
Mankato Loyola handed the Bluejays an opening round 25-23, 25-10 loss, while United South Central dealt the Knights a 25-12, 25-18 loss in the first match.
The Bluejays and the Knights then squared off in the second round, handing each other matching 25-16 losses.
The Bluejays took the opening game victory over the Knights, before ML/ GHEC responded to win the second game by the same margin.
Truman then faced USC in the third round, falling 25-15, 25-14.
The lone victory for the Bluejays came in the final round, as they defeated New Ulm Cathedral 25-23, 25-20.
Emily Zaharia led the Bluejays' third-place effort with 22 kills, nine blocks, 20 digs and three ace serves.
Alexis Jahnz made 24 digs, smacked eight kills and recorded three blocks, while Hanna Hartman sizzled 10 kills, made one block and had one ace serve for Truman.
Stephanie Jahnz made 19 digs, while Cydney Kilian doled out 41 set assists in the tournament.
Courtney Zaharia dispensed six kills, made two blocks, 10 digs and scored one ace serve for the Bluejays.
The Knights, meanwhile, faced New Ulm Cathedral in the third round, splitting the games, 17-25, 25-17.
In the final round, the Knights then squared off against Mankato Loyola, dealing them a 19-25, 25-22 loss.
Hunter Payne distributed 60 set assists for the Knights, whle Amber Schulz smacked 16 kills to lead the fourth-place effort.
Kristi Oberdieck scattered 14 kills and tallied nine blocks in the tournament for the Knights.
Truman (3-10-1) hosts Madelia in a Valley Conference game Tuesday in Truman.
Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain (3-11-1) travels to face Mankato Loyola in a conference match Tuesday in Mankato.
